Bob Kuhn wrote, “If you’ve spent any time at all in the great parks of Africa – and as I write this I’m preparing for our twelfth game-viewing safari – you know that one species generates more excitement and frantic shutter-snapping among the wildlife worshippers than any other. And that’s the leopard.

“Maybe it’s the fact that leopards are loners, night-stalkers who retreat to dark, shadowy places during the day. Maybe it’s their amazing resiliency; how they can survive in a savage world of lions and hyenas and the like. Or perhaps we love the leopard simply because it’s the most elegantly fashioned creature on the earth – especially when reposed on a gnarly limb in the heat of an African day.”
