Describing this painting the artist wrote, “I’ve tried to capture something of the belligerent nature of a bull elk in his mating fervor of early fall. At that time of year, the western mountains echo with their passionate squeals and roars. It’s a time of fresh cool air and brilliant color, nature’s last splurge before the grim, grey cloak of winter.”
