According to the artist, “The inspiration for this work came from the work of the 19th century Swedish plein-air painter, Anders Zorn. Many of Zorn’s inviting compositions combined colorful folk costumes with the muted tones of Sweden’s rural landscape, creating a beautiful balance of contrast and harmony. Dreaming of Love was painted on location near New Fane, Wisconsin during the summer of 1995. The model, Teresa Andersson, had recently found her true love and had spent much time contemplating the new relationship while she posed for this work.

“The costume, an authentic Swedish summer outfit, was purchased in Zorn’s hometown of Mara, Sweden, during a recent trip there to view a retrospective exhibition of his work.”
