Lake McDermott, Glacier National Park

In 1910, Louis Hill hired John Fery to paint the dramatic scenery of Glacier Park, Montana. The paintings were used by the Great Northern Railroad to promote tourism in the area. According to Fery biographer Dr. Larry Len Peterson, “Fery’s panorama of choice in the whole park to record on canvas was looking west over McDermott Falls with McDermott Lake and the mountains in the background. More paintings were completed with views from this setting than any other.”
