2024 Coeur d’Alene Art Auction / Lot 269
VERSO
Signed and titled
Describing this painting, the artist wrote, “The land of the Blackfoot stretched from the north Saskatchewan river in Alberta to the Yellowstone river in Montana. The Old North Trail ran from north to south through the Rocky Mountains and was used for countless generations. The Blackfoot riders in this painting could be following that trail and although the ground is covered by heavy snow, their knowledge of the land tells them that they are following the Old North Trail.”
